  1. May 30,  · Jewel's yodeling is admirable, but not enough to make this album a good listen altogether. I was thrown immediately because I couldn't help but notice that "Funnel of Love" is not at all country. As I continued to listen, I heard some of my older favorites like "Misty Blue" and "Night Life," but didn't hear any new kind of life breathed into them/5(3).

  5. The album begins with "Funnel Of Love," a track Wanda Jackson, the Queen of Rockabilly, recorded in Another highlight is the rollicking take on “Heartaches By The Number,” a country standard previously covered by everyone from George Jones to Waylon Jennings to Dwight Yoakum/5().
  6. One of the first songs she played was “ Funnel of Love ” which dates from ; Wanda said that the song had gotten a lot more attention in the last 10 years. I first heard the song on one of the overpriced but essential Born Bad CD’s back in the ’s, and the song thrilled me to the core of my being; it immediately became one of my.
  7. Dec 15,  · Fleshed out with way too many lesser tracks from the Supremes, Dusty Springfield and even Dolly Parton (improbably trying to imitate the Shangri-Las before her country career took off), this set proffers too much pop melodrama and not enough genuine classics. Chicago Sun Times VARIOUS ARTISTS, "GIRL GROUP SOUNDS, LOST & FOUND" (WARNER.
  8. Feb 12,  · For every A-side rave-up like “Mean Mean Man” or “Fujiyama Mama,” she offers a B-side weeper like “(Every Time They Play) Our Song” or the hillbilly tragedy of “No Wedding Bells For Joe.” In one giddy jukebox pairing, her “Little Charm Bracelet” flips to a distaff remake of The Robins’ “Riot In Cell Block Number Nine.”.
  9. 1. "Funnel of Love"-Upbeat and almost rockabilly sound, reminds me of an amusement park on a summer day. I like this one, it's catchy. It gets stuck in my head but in a good way. I like singing along to it. A great opening track. 5/5 2. "Detour" (featuring Emmylou Harris)-This isn't as good as the first track, but I like it. Vintage sounding.
